The idea for Modevia was conceived in the spring of 2002 by two guys who were fed up with a previous employer. Instead of sitting around grumbling, they decided to take action. By fall, Modevia Web Services LLC was a reality.
The company was run in the spare time of college students for its first few years — a fact we were never afraid to share with our customers. Through all this, Modevia has remained a privately-held, privately-funded company. Today we maintain a full-time operations office in Virginia.
We know that we will continue to be successful as long as we stick to the vision we've had since day one: to be known for customer service and reliability.
That Japanese proverb is so apt: "Vision without action is a daydream. Action without vision is a nightmare." We find it apt because we've been part of businesses that lack one or both. That's why we work so hard to stay focused on our vision and move forward at a pace that makes sense for the company and our clients.
Modevia is different because we look at problems from unique angles. We don't accept that "the way it's always been" is always the same as "the way it should be". We believe not only in finding the best possible solution for every client, but also in helping clients understand why that solution is best.
Here are just a few of the ways we're different:
We look at hosting accounts as logical groupings of websites. We don't care how many domains or websites are on your account as long as you stay within your usage limits. So if you have 4 domains for your business, host them all on one account. However, if you own two businesses, we ask you to open a separate account for each business.
We never automatically assess overage fees. We like to trust our customers. We figure that if you knew you were going to exceed your bandwidth limit, you probably would have opted for a bigger account. So if we notice you're using more resources than you've purchased, we'll come to you and make recommendations on a case-by-case basis.
We are committed to helping non-profit organizations. The Internet has changed the way the world finds and shares information. We know that many non-profits have important messages, but don't have the personnel or funding to get them on the web in a professional way. That's why we've made it one of our goals to make our services accessible to all types of clients. If you're a non-profit, especially a church with a confessional Lutheran message, we'd love to talk to you.
